What Is an SVG Arts Canva Template?
An SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) file is a type of design file made from vector shapes rather than pixels. This means:
- The design can be resized without losing quality
- Individual elements can often be recolored
- Text can easily be edited or replaced
- The artwork stays crisp for printing, stickers, and digital products
When SVG Arts designs are imported into Canva, they usually appear as editable vector elements, allowing you to customize the artwork quickly.
Step 1: Open Your Canva Template
Start by opening the Canva template link provided with your SVG Art purchase (downloaded PDF Thank Card with link).
Once it opens in Canva, you'll see the design placed on the canvas and ready to edit. If the template includes multiple pages or layouts, you can scroll through them to see all the available designs.
Step 2: Select the Design Element
To edit colors in the SVG artwork:
- Click on the design element you want to change.
- Canva will highlight the selected object.
- At the top of the screen, you'll see color boxes representing the colors used in the design.
These color controls allow you to change the artwork instantly.
Step 3: Change the Colors
Once the element is selected:
- Click the color box in the top toolbar.
- Choose a new color from Canva’s palette.
- You can also enter a custom hex color code if you want a specific shade.
This is perfect for:
- Matching school or event color palettes
- Creating seasonal variations
You can repeat this step for each color element in the design.
Step 4: Edit the Text
If your SVG template includes editable text, updating it is simple.
- Click directly on the text in the design.
- Type your new wording.
- Use the top toolbar to change:
- Font style
- Font size
- Text color
- Letter spacing
This allows you to personalize the design for things like:
